GIBEON, Iron octahedrite, fine (IVA).Great Namaland, Namibia, Africa. Found 1836. Total known weight 26,000 kilograms. Huge quantities of this meteorite have been recovered since its discovery. Some of this meteorite was used by native warriors for spear points since it is both highly malleable and easy worked and was the only sourse of metal known to thm.
The weight of this specimen is 10.5 kilograms.
