Fine line drawing of the 29.5 pound Kraehenberg LL5 meteorite. This was a witnessed fall on May5, 1869 in Palatina, Preussia. This masterpiece drawing was taken from Dr. Neumayers 1871 account on the circumstances of the fall. His report is most outstanding regarding the diligent collection of eye witness reports especially on several different types of noises caused by the falling rock. Note the dotted line at position N in the drawing where a fragment was blown away by the strike of an axe briefly after the fall. The Kraehenberg piece in the Vienna collection stems from this position, it was sold by Neumayer to Haidinger in the year of the fall.
