Needle in a Haystack
Polished 94gm endcut of an NWA meteorite currently under classification. The cut brought to light an iron shrapnel measuring 13 mm enclosed in a polymict chondritic breccia. Cemented into the clastic matrix the torn and twisted shrapnel bears witness to a collison of a chondritic parent body with an iron impactor. The impactor, most probably of octahedral origin, fragmented along the boundaries of the taenite and kamazite phase. NMR scalecube is 1 cm. Your comments are appreciated.
